Update: Our calendar is now full!
We are proud to announce that our calendar for 2009 has been completely filled! Thanks to everyone who has signed up to create a podcast. We have started a waiting list in case we have anyone back out or fail to submit a podcast on time. So, there's still a chance to join in if you are interested. Just send us an email and let us know!
How to contribute
- Register on this site.
- Read the The Rules below
- Email us and volunteer to "own" a particular day or days of 2009.
- Plan out your show and record it as best you can.
- Send us your audio and transcript at least 30 days before your air date.
All voices, all accents, everyone is welcome.
The Rules
- All dates are on a first come first serve basis.
- You may sign up for up to 12 dates (one per month) but you are only guaranteed 1 date if we experience extremely high levels of participation.
- You are not required to base your podcast on the calendar.
- You must submit your audio and transcript no less than 30 days before your air date(s) or you may lose your date(s).
- All contributions must be less than 10 minutes in length. Feel free to point people to an extended version that you host on your own site.
- All contributions should be G-rated.
- The subject matter need not be appropriate for all listeners. Some topics will be too basic or too complex for some listeners. That's OK. A podcast about the magnitude scale is encouraged, as is one on neutrinos in the early universe.
- All podcasts should be premiering at least some content. We don't want to solely re-broadcast previously published material. It is OK if you include excerpts of your previously published material in your podcast and we encourage you to direct people to more information.
- Contributions will be accepted and published at the sole discretion of the IYA New Media Working Group.
