We are go for launch

In roughly 48 hours the daily podcast will begin! Make sure you have subscribed. Look for the ever-present Subscribe! section to your left. You could also just set this site as your home page and listen on your computer every day. I think you know the drill.

Contributors — thank you for the excellent stuff! We are very pleased with the quality of what is coming in. Please — if you will not be submitting your audio 30 days in advance, we need you to email us or you risk being bumped.

Also, a note in regards to the 10-minute rule. It can be challenging to get an interview or in-depth piece down to 10 minutes. You gotta do it. I’ve edited 2 podcasts myself and in both cases I thought there was no way I could get it down to 10 minutes. In both cases I did and I think the result is quite pleasing. Remember — the listener doesn’t know what they are not hearing. You have to aim for 10 minutes or less. With that said, we will not be rejecting entries which go over by a modest amount. You should mention and we will link to an extended version if one exists.

We still need people to contribute podcasts. As you listen to some of the shows coming up, I really hope you get the urge to join in.

Facebook

There are two ways to support The 365 Days of Astronomy Podcast on Facebook. You can become a fan of the “product” and/or you can become a reader of the “blog“. The latter is really much more useful, so if you are on Facebook, come join us.

Also, just a small update — the audio is starting to flow in. If your podcast is in January please make sure you leave enough time to get us your audio 30 prior to your air date. At the very least, let us know if it will be late.

To January…and beyond!

The very cool Emily Lakdawalla recently sent The 365 Days of Astronomy Podcast organizing committee (which she is a member of) an update on signups, from which I quote: The good news is THE ENTIRE MONTH OF JANUARY IS NOW FILLED. Everybody drink a celebratory libation of your choice. I didn’t even need to use [...]

Let There Be Audio

As of this writing it is T-30 days until we start the podcast. That means the people who are doing shows the first week of January should be finishing up their audio and submitting it to us via ShareFile using instructions we are providing via email. We are asking all contributors to get us their audio 30 days in advance so we have time to plug holes if they appear. You’ve been warned! :)

Many thanks to those who volunteered for January. I’ll report back, but I think we may have filled it up. If not, we only have a day or two unaccounted for. If so, you’ll be hearing about it!

We are doing a special show for the 1st of the year that will include many ideas for those of you sitting on the fence. Go on sign up! You just might learn something.
